Ground was broken in the UCCI campus to house this 12.5”, f/4.8 Newtonian reflector telescope in a joint public-private sector programme.

This week (Monday, 22 August) on GIS Spotlight, we take you out of this world, bring you three artists at work and encourage entrepreneurship.

Join us to see how you too can take to the stars. Visit the University College of the Cayman Islands’ groundbreaking to build a home for a donated telescope and learn how you can stargaze to expand your horizons and minds.

Hear what is planned in science and astronomy lessons for students and for the whole community in order to maximise the use of the state-of-the-art telescope.

Experience also the work of a GIS summer intern who helped create the segment.

After that, it’s off to the National Gallery to catch Day in the Life IV. You can follow three in-house artists who will create, display and talk about their work.

Get to know what triggers their creativity and learn how you can interact with them to become art-inspired and perhaps help these artists broaden their creations.

For our last stop, we take you back to the Department of Commerce and Investment to understand the working of the Trade and Business Licensing Board. Get vital information on newly-effected changes and hear how best to use the service to meet your needs.

Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government’s services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you.

The weekly programme now airs on Cayman27 at 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, and 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

All stories seen in this week’s show can also be found on the GIS Marketing and Communications website: www.gis.ky.

Comments and suggestions about the programme are always welcome. Viewers can provide feedback by e-mailing Spotlight [at] gov [dot] ky.
