Public Holidays: 2011

The Deputy Governor’s Office has released a confirmed listing of 2011 public holidays. The single exception is the Queen’s Birthday which awaits confirmation from the UK.

Her Majesty’s actual birthday is 21 April but the occasion is officially celebrated in the UK on a Saturday in June. The local observance takes place on the following Monday, and Monday 13 June is tentatively designated for 2011.

Since Christmas Day in 2011 falls on a Sunday, the holiday observance for the day will be Monday, 26 December.

Consequently, the Boxing Day holiday will be observed on Tuesday 27 December, explained Deputy Governor’s Office Corporate Manager, Mrs. Christine Wright.

Cayman’s public holidays for 2011 are:

o Monday, 3 January - New Year’s Day;
o Monday, 24 January - National Heroes’ Day;
o Wednesday, 9 March - Ash Wednesday;
o Friday, 22 April - Good Friday;
o Monday, 25 April - Easter Monday;
o Monday, 16 May - Discovery Day;
o Monday, 13 June - Queen’s Birthday (to be confirmed);
o Monday, 4 July - Constitution Day;
o Monday, 14 November - Remembrance Day;
o Monday, 26 December - Christmas Day (for Sunday 25 December);
o Tuesday, 27 December - Boxing Day (for Monday 26 December).
