HMS Manchester Meets and Greets

High school students visited the HMS Manchester where they were treated to a tour below deck.

The HMS Manchester, under Commander Rex J. Cox, was greeted by officials and other groups during this week’s visit to the Cayman Islands.

Following its Wednesday, 16 June arrival, senior Royal Navy officers hosted a reception for more than 100 guests, including His Excellency the Governor Duncan Taylor, CBE, Mrs. Marie-Beatrice Taylor and Deputy Premier the Hon. Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, JP.

The captain and officers also held a press briefing and met with Hazard Management Cayman Islands officials, in addition to hosting visits from students and cadets. After friendly competition against local sports teams, the HMS Manchester departs on 18th June to participate in a Sister Islands hurricane preparedness exercise.

This is the vessel’s final voyage; the HMS Manchester will be decommissioned upon its return to England, having concluded its tour of duty in this region.
