Minister of Community Affairs and Housing, the Hon. Mike Adam, MBE shares a special moment with a Maple House resident during a recent visit.

On Friday (4 December) Minister of Community Affairs and Housing the Hon. Mike Adam, MBE visited the Maple House for disabled youth and Hillside, the facility for disabled adults.

The visits were organised as part of Cayman’s Week of the Disabled observance. Joining the Minister on the trip were Chief Officer Dorine Whittaker; Department of Children and Family Services Director Deanna Look Loy; DCFS Adult Special Needs Coordinator, Dawn Rankine; Senior Policy Officer Debbie-Ann Whittaker and Policy Officer Sophy Broad.

Mr. Adam welcomed the opportunity to interact with staff and residents of both facilities, and to discuss challenges and future plans.

“While people with disabilities do encounter challenges, it is evident that they want what we all do; to be loved, cared for and treated with respect.

“I am extremely thankful to all the staff members who work diligently to care for the residents and encourage them to be their best. I wholeheartedly pledge the Ministry’s continued support to their efforts,” he said.
