The official emblem for The Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012 is this winning design in a UK national competition for children aged six to14. It was drawn by ten-year-old Katherine Dewar from Chester, UK.

Monday, 4 June 2012 will be celebrated as a public holiday in the Cayman Islands in honour of Her Majesty the Queen’s diamond jubilee.

Cabinet last week approved the holiday in keeping with the UK bank holiday which will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s ascent to the throne.

Additionally, as previously declared, Her Majesty’s birthday will be celebrated as a public holiday on Monday 18 June 2012, both in the UK and in Cayman.

Her Majesty became Queen on 6 February 1952, the day her father, King George VI, passed away.

However, her actual coronation took place on 2 June 1953, following a period of mourning.
