Mrs. Jack (centre) bids farewell to Speaker of the House, the Hon. Mary Lawrence (left); and Deputy Premier, the Hon. Juliana O’Connor-Connolly.

While acknowledging that he and elected officials did not always see eye to eye, outgoing Governor Stuart Jack, CVO, said he was leaving the Cayman Islands “with many fond memories in my heart.”

Mr. Jack and his wife, Mrs. Mariko Jack, left Cayman this afternoon (Wednesday, 2 December) on a Cayman Airways flight. Preceding their departure, an informal farewell reception was held at the Owen Roberts International Airport VIP lounge.

Attending were government dignitaries including the Premier, the Hon. McKeeva Bush, OBE, JP; Deputy Governor, the Hon. Donovan Ebanks, MBE (who is now Acting Governor); Deputy Premier, the Hon. Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, JP; and Speaker of the House, the Hon. Mary Lawrence, JP.

Other ministers of government and MLAs were also present for the occasion.

In response, and on behalf of the people of the Cayman Islands, Mr. Bush thanked Mr. Jack and his family. To Mrs. Jack, he said, “You have made a difference here. You were always a gentle lady, and I appreciate your contributions.”

Expressing her farewells, Mrs. Jack thanked the Premier for his support, and offered her assistance however she could in the future.

Accompanying the Jacks for their departure was their daughter, Sarah.
