Acting Governor the Hon. Donovan Ebanks, MBE, led donations by the Governor’s Office Thursday (10 December). Seen (from L) are Crisis Centre Executive Director Renee Carroll-Grate; Marriott Sales Manager Iva Jozic; Acting Governor Ebanks; Victoria Bise and Governor’s Office Head Steve Moore.

Thanks to the Governor’s Office, children and abused women are two groups who will receive Christmas gifts this season.

Acting Governor the Hon. Donovan Ebanks, MBE, led the presentation of the donations at the Governor’s Office last Thursday (10 December).

“I am delighted that the office is spreading Christmas cheer among vulnerable segments of our population,” he said.

In the first instance, toys went to a charity drive being conducted solo by 14-year-old Victoria Bise, a Cayman International School student, to benefit children through the Department of Children and Family Services.

“This is the second year we have donated toys to Victoria’s drive,” said Assistant Management Officer/Accountant Melenie Mylrea, who is coordinating. “Her selflessness and effort certainly merit our support.”

The remaining gifts comprise Kirk Freeport gift vouchers purchased through donations from Marriott Resort. These will benefit women in safe shelter at the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre. “We want to ensure they receive some much-needed seasonal joy,” said Head of the Governor’s Office Steve Moore.

Marriott Resort donated funds against reward points earned for bookings through the Governor’s Office, explained Marriott Sales Manager Iva Jozic.
