The Cayman Islands has bagged a ranking among the top 20 honeymoon destinations in the world. A Brides Magazine survey ranks Cayman at number 15.

An award acknowledging the ranking was recently presented to Cayman Islands tourism officials at a magazine luncheon during Caribbean Week 2011 in New York.

On Thursday, 30 June, Premier and Minister of Finance, Tourism and Development, the Hon. McKeeva Bush, OBE, JP received the award from the team leader, Chief Officer of the Tourism Ministry, Mr. Carson Ebanks, MBE, JP.

Others attending the handover were the ministry’s Deputy Chief Officer Dalton Watler and Acting Director of Tourism Shomari Scott.

“Niche marketing has a special place particularly for Caribbean destinations which all have an abundance of sun, sand and sea,” Mr. Bush noted. “This award boosts our market strengths and proves that we are truly a top contender.”

In turn, Chief Officer Mr. Ebanks said, “We are thrilled that the Cayman Islands has been selected as a recipient of this award and we welcome honeymooners to discover the destination for all we have to offer.” He added, “Our enchanting islands have something to offer for all honeymooners – relaxation, adventure, nature, incredible epicurean experience and much more. For a week or a month, the Cayman Islands is a perfect place for honeymooners.”
