Residents are invited to participate in the Right to Know Week 2009 events, beginning with a service this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at the Elmslie Memorial United Church.
The week-long observance is being hosted by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), and includes activities on both Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac.
On Monday 28th an open-house and afternoon tea will be held at the ICO office, located in the Elizabethan Square, George Town (above the Thai restaurant), between 2 and 4 p.m. There, the public can learn about its functions and how they can exercise their rights under the Freedom of Information Law to request public authority records.
Then on Friday, 2 October, from 2 to 5 p.m., the Information Commissioner’s Office will hold a second open house at the Brac House on Cayman Brac, to which the public is invited to attend to learn more about the FOI.
The week will conclude with a Fun Walk/ Run/Ride-a-thon on Saturday morning, 3 October. This free event will kick off at the Seven Mile Public Beach, with registration beginning at 6:30 a.m. and the start a half-hour later.
