The education system recently received a much-needed technology boost when PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) upgraded their computer systems.
Ten laptops and one photocopier were respectively donated to Savannah and East End primary schools, while two printers went to private afterschool programmes.
Education Ministry Deputy Chief Officer Christen Suckoo explained that the laptops will allow two of Savannah Primary’s Year 6 classes to complete in-class research assignments while gaining valuable hands-on experience with the technology.
“Both classes were short on computers so the donations are more than welcome,” he said.
In turn, the photocopier sent to East End Primary School replaced one lost during recent flooding caused by a plumbing malfunction.
Mr. Suckoo thanked the company for their donation valued at nearly $12,000 which, he said, supports the education mandate.
“We at PwC are so pleased to give back to the community in which we live and work,” PwC Assurance and Business Development Manager, Angilynn Chan stated.
“We believe in investing in our surroundings and the future. Technology is a fast- growing area which is fundamental both to the education system and corporate world. Introducing this sort of knowledge to students from an early age enhances value in their education, which in turn enhances the value in our community and future.”
