Thanks to Kirk Supermarket and Pharmacy, students attending government primary- and high schools will benefit from receiving additional supplies this school year.
The retailer donated 5,600 pencils, which will be distributed in packs of ten to primary schools throughout the Cayman Islands. An additional donation of scientific calculators and protractors will go to math departments at public high schools.
Explaining the importance of getting involved and bridging financial funding gaps, Kirk Supermarket General Manager Charles Jury said, “We know that money is limited at the moment and that some school resources may have been cut.
“School is where it all starts for kids and we want to ensure that they have the tools to be successful, because when kids do well, we all benefit.” Mr. Jury further noted that such donations would become an annual ritual for Kirk Supermarket.
Voicing his appreciation, Ministry of Education Deputy Chief Officer Christen Suckoo said,
“We are grateful to receive this generous donation of supplies and we particularly thank Kirk Supermarket for recognising the importance of education. We hope that you and other like-minded persons will continue to keep the education of our youth in the forefront of their minds.”
