Time to decorate! Rotaract Blue members help Sunrise Adult Training Centre clients decorate their facility for the holidays.

Persons with disabilities (PWDs) across Grand Cayman celebrated International Day for Persons with Disabilities with family, friends and visitors from the community.

For the clients of the Sunrise Adult Training Centre it meant decorating their facility, helped by Rotaract Blue volunteers.

Rotaract Assistant Director of Community Service, Marzita Bodden, explained that their Sunrise visit was really an extension of the organisation’s Open Arms community outreach project. It seeks to recognise outstanding PWDs and those who work with them.

“But because it’s so close to the holidays, we decided to make this visit about the Christmas season,” she said.

Students at the Lighthouse School also passed the day in a special way. They opened their school to the community, inviting all to share some quality time touring, viewing art displays and reading books.

Amongst their guests were Minister for Education, Training and Employment, the Hon. Rolston Anglin; Ministry Chief Officer Mary Rodrigues; Speaker of the House, the Hon. Mary Lawrence, JP, as well as parents and students from other primary schools across the island.
