Stand up and be counted this October and November.

This week (Monday, 13 September) on GIS Spotlight we get ready for Census 2010, we give insider tips on license renewals and generator use and we take a second look at climate change’s impact on our weather.

In less than thirty days the Economics and Statistics Unit will roll out Census 2010. But in order to count everyone in Cayman, they need trained census takers. We visit the unit to see what it takes to prepare staff for this major task.

Next, we take (some of) the pain out of renewing your driver’s licence by telling you what you need to do and what you need to take with you when you go to the Department of Vehicle and Drivers’ Licensing.

Then, with hurricane season heating up, we ask the experts at the Public Works Department to demonstrate the safe use of generators.

Finally, we explore what climate change has to do with the weather, and how it impacts our environment. We pin down some details about climate change, such as the differences between global warming and climate change and what the future holds.

Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government’s services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you. The weekly programme now airs on Cayman27 at 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, and 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. All the stories seen in this week’s show can also be found on the GIS Marketing and Communications website: www.gis.ky.

Comments and suggestions about the programme are always welcome. Viewers can provide feedback by e-mailing Spotlight [at] gov [dot] ky .
