Deputy Premier and Minister of District Administration, Works, Lands and Agriculture the Hon. Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, JP has recognised 18-year-old Charles Christopher Godet for his exceptional musical talent, and for his musical contribution to the Cayman Brac community.
The presentation was made at a 23 December 2010 function.
Young Charles has been playing music for the last decade; having learned to play the guitar at eight, he went on to teach himself the keyboard.
Then with the help of his father in 2006, he established the C-Level Band, well-known for performing at hotels, and at Brac events.
He has also played in Grand Cayman’s Harquail Theatre and as a producer of music, Charles has earned a number of medals at the National Children’s Festival of the Arts.
In making the presentation, Minister Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, JP, said that her ministry was pleased to acknowledge a youngster who has proven to be a tremendous asset to the Brac community.
“He has shown commitment in following his passion, and as a community we must take every opportunity to encourage our young people.
“He is truly a sterling example and we wish him lots of success as well as God’s richest blessings in his studies” she said.
Charles is currently attending Florida International University where he is pursuing a degree in business.
In responding to the accolades, Charles noted: “I sincerely thank our Honourable
Deputy Premier for this award.
“Music has always been, and will always be, a vital part of my life, and I look forward to continuing to provide entertainment on Cayman Brac whenever I have an opportunity to return home.”
