Deputy Premier the Hon. Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, JP assists kids at the Cayman Brac Daycare Centre to explore their new playground equipment.

Children attending the government-owned Cayman Brac Day Care Centre are now enjoying new playground equipment.

Recently handed over by Ministry of District Administration, Works, Land and Agriculture officials, it features a jungle gym, swings, slides and playhouse cottages. District Administration Minister the Hon. Juliana O’Connor-Connolly, JP said the items will enable the centre to meet the children’s recreational needs. “A critical part of childhood development entails the provision of adequate play time and the proper tools to use that time and grow,” she said.

“We therefore view this equipment as an important investment in our children’s and our country’s future,” the Minister said. Thanking the ministry and all involved for “this important gift,” Daycare Supervisor Neila Jones noted that the equipment will assist in building the children’s motor skills.

“It’s such a win-win situation,” she said. “We are grateful to get these items but it is
also pleasing just to see the kids’ joy as they use the new playground gear.”

Hurricane Paloma had destroyed most of the already-worn playground apparatus. The new items will therefore also do much to revamp the daycare facility.
