Government computers are experiencing some technical issues.

Central Government’s computer systems have been affected over the past week by technical difficulties which slowed data-processing.

The computer slowdown and periodic outages are thought to be connected problems with central data storage. While access to individual user files and shared file servers are affected, there has been no loss of central data or databases, and the system’s security has not been compromised.

Computer Services Department’s Director Gilbert McLaughlin stated that the service providers, Microsoft and Hewlett Packard, are working with the department to resolve the issues as soon as possible. He indicated that the problems started since the overnight failure of the data center cooling system last week, as well as the simultaneous failure of the back-up cooling system.
