On this week’s GIS Spotlight: Hurricane preparedness; birthday celebrations for our marine parks, and tomorrow’s business leaders.

This week (Monday, 6 June) GIS Spotlight promotes hurricane preparedness, celebrates 25 years of marine conservation and takes business lessons at the Cayman Islands Further Education Centre (CIFEC).

With hurricane season here, our message is: Do not wait for the first storm to start your preparations. So tune in and get ready with our list of ‘must do’s,’ including tips on a family emergency plan, hurricane shopping and more.

Cayman’s marine parks turned 25 this year. We join Department of Environment staff as they celebrate with an open house focused on those parks. Learn more about their work and the importance of the country’s conservation efforts.

Our last stop is the CIFEC where we see how a course in business technology is grooming the next generation of corporate leaders. We follow two students into their places of work to see how they share the benefits of the course.

Produced by Government Information Services, GIS Spotlight highlights government’s services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you. The weekly programme now airs on Cayman27 at 8:30 p.m. on Mondays, and 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. All stories seen in this week’s show can also be found on the GIS Marketing and Communications website: www.gis.ky. Comments and suggestions about the programme are always welcome. Viewers can provide feedback by e-mailing Spotlight [at] gov [dot] ky
