This week (Monday, 17 January) GIS Spotlight steps onboard the Kittiwake, enjoys an authentic Cayman marketplace and celebrates an improved Golden Age Retirement Home.
The sinking of the Kittiwake garnered the Cayman Islands international media attention. Join us for an exclusive look at what it took to prepare for the event, plus we take you on a tour of the ship before it went down. We also spoke to MLA and tourism councillor Cline Glidden on how government hopes the new dive attraction will boost visitor numbers.
Our next stop is the National Museum’s Looky Ya where we encounter a smorgasbord of Caymanian food, art and crafts. Tune in to find out more about this cultural programme, meet some of our original crafters and be tempted by some real, local food.
Then it’s off to West Bay’s Golden Age Retirement Home where staff and residents are enjoying a renovated and expanded residence. We talk to staff and Department of Children and Family Services officials about why this upgrade is so significant.
