This week (Monday, 26 April) on GIS Spotlight we visit Cayman’s greenest properties, we learn what it takes to live with disabilities, and we meet Cayman’s latest award-winning film-maker.
The Cayman Islands Environmental Project for the Tourism Sector (CEPTS) is a Department of Tourism initiative that helps hotels and tourism attractions to go green thereby minimizing their impact on land and sea. The ultimate goal is for properties to acquire the international Green Globe designation.
Now, after a year’s hard work, three businesses have attained the coveted eco-accolade. So, come with us as we visit these properties to learn what had to be done to secure the official recognition. We also explore how going green is not only good for the environment but it also affects the bottom line.
Next, we continue our focus on persons with disabilities by telling the stories of two remarkable people. They list their daily challenges, but also share how they beat the odds.
We also hear from two occupational therapists how you can support friends and family with disabilities thus allowing them to live as independently as possible.
Finally, step out onto the red carpet at CayFest’s Young Image Makers Film Premiere. Meet the finalists of the Young Image Makers Short Film Competition and find out who was named Cayman’s top young film-maker.
